After many years of doctors, drugs (legal ones), tests, hamsters (long story), procedures and failures it finally worked. WE ARE HAVING A BABY!! I can't believe it! After our dreaded 2 week wait I went and had a blood test done. I called the lab 3 times to make sure the results were right. I thought they must have mixed me up with someone else. After the third call I walked into our family room to talk to Brandt. He looked at me with that "are you going to tell me" expression and all I could do was give him a thumbs up. I had always thought about all the cute ways I could have told him. I came up with balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, but all I could give him was a thumbs up. We cant believe it finally happened. We figure the baby should be here around June.
I tried to keep this quiet for a while, I didn't want to jinx anything. I couldn't keep my big mouth shut, Lisanne and I were shopping and I just blurted out " So, I am about six weeks". It took her just a minute to figure things out and then we were crying. We got in the car and called our other sister Erica. She got a little nervous when I told her to sit down before I said anything but she guessed after a minute. After I told them Brandt and I started deciding when and how to tell our parents. So this is how things went...
We decided to tell our parents around Halloween. We told Brandt's parents over dinner. They were very excited to be able to add another leaf to their family tree. We told my parents & my grandparents during our annual pumpkin carving contest. We had Ryan drop something on the front porch and then ring and run. My mom answered the door and brought the little gifts to the kitchen. At first she couldn't read the little card we made but after some help from Lisanne she was able to read it. She and Grandma starting crying and couldn't believe it. My Dad just stood there shocked and kept saying "Honest engine?". My Mom starting yelling at us "Who told you?" and "Seriously, seriously?" It was so funny. Needless to say they are excited. They have been waiting for this as long as we have and can't wait to meet this new baby. The notes said "Guess who has a bun in the oven? Look for me cause' I'll be coming around the first of June" and were attached to HUGE cinnamon rolls.
